WHAT IS THE FEEL GOOD FELLOWSHIP?
The Feel Good Fellowship is a non-compulsory, non-profit certificate which will operate as a certificate of adherence. It will serve as an ethical stamp that fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands will use within their social posts - to send a message to their consumers - that they have been mindful of, and considered, their responsibilities as a social feed or platform The fellowship examines a brand’s use of diverse casting, ensures ethical and factually accurate messaging, encourages transparency relating to colour grading and retouching, and inspires calls-to-action. Ultimately, this is about brands’ marketing strategies being mindful of their young follower’s mental health.
WHY IS THE FELLOWSHIP IMPORTANT?
Depression statistics for 18-25 year olds are staggering and on the rise. Our brands have to work hard to ensure that they are protecting their audience and our future generations. The Fellowship Certificate will be associated with transparency. We celebrate, and understand the power of, beautiful imagery, but acknowledge that there needs to be purpose behind the picture. We have had enough of the digital dump, and use the Fellowship as a way of showing consumers that what they’re seeing is what they’re getting, no frills, no fakery, no feeling bad about yourself.
WHERE ARE WE TAKING IT?
We are on a road trip to educate brands on the function and purpose of the stamp, and what it means to a young consumer, that you, as a content creator, are being kind, careful and considerate. Part of the initial journey will be holding talks at leading UK schools, colleges and universities to let young people know what the stamp means, why it’s important, and to look out for it on their feeds.
